This role will suit a highly experienced, enthusiastic and client-centred Behaviour Support Practitioner seeking an NDIS patient base. You will use your knowledge and experience to provide evidence and behaviour-based supports to clients in different environments. Your support will focus on person-centred interventions to address the underlying causes of behaviours of concern or challenging behaviours. You will be part of a successful and expanding Allied Health service operating across Cairns, providing tailored services in line with individual NDIS plans. As part of your role, you will also provide clinical leadership and mentoring to a growing  staff in the area of positive behaviour support.

 

The role:

  • Working with participants with physical & mental health requirements to develop plans based on their individual needs
  • Complete functional behaviour assessments
  • Develop and implement Behaviour Support Plans that contain contemporary, evidence-based behavioural strategies
  • Collaborate effectively with your colleagues, clients and their support networks, contributing effectively to quality service provision and effective outcomes with the aim of reducing or eliminating restrictive practices
  • Complete interim and comprehensive plans and work towards goals within these plans.
  • Review of behaviour support plans when required.

Requirements:

  • Must be a NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology WITH governing body registration (AHPRA, AASW, SPA etc)
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive behaviour assessments and designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour support plans.
  • Working knowledge of the NDIS and the policies & procedures
  • Knowledge and experience around restrictive practices and the NDIS reporting requirements
  • Current driver’s licence and a reliable car.
